The men's basketball team, Racer Band, cheerleaders and fans waited anxiously Sunday at the Racer Dance Party at the RSEC to learn what the future held for Murray State.
As the CBS Selection Show aired over Racer Vision, everyone held their breath as the Midwest Region was announced.
When the Racers were bypassed in that bracket, it became a short waiting game until Murray State was announced as a No. 13 seed, taking on No. 4 Vanderbilt in the West Region.
The game will be broadcast on CBS live from San Jose, Calif., with tipoff set for 1:30 p.m. CST.
Murray State (30-4) earned its 14th appearance in the NCAA tournament with a 62-51 win over Morehead State in the OVC Championship game March 6 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
Vandy (24-8) received an automatic bid after falling to Mississippi State in the semifinals of the SEC tournament.
The winner of the Murray State-Vandy matchup will advance to play the victor of the No. 5 Butler and No. 12 UTEP game. The second-round game will take place in San Jose Saturday and will be shown on CBS.
