The staff editorial is the majority opinion of the editorial board of The Murray State News. For months there have been discussions, debates and wringing of hands across campus about how to cope with the state budget cuts and what the money crunch means for every University department.
Ever since I was a little girl the end of the school year meant I got a whole three months away from dry, boring lectures, rules and stuffy classrooms. It also meant it was time for our annual family road trip to some painfully-classic American vacation destination like the Grand Canyon or Disney World.
I'm a week and a day away from graduation and I just sent out my graduation announcements yesterday. I still have a significant portion of an online chemistry class left to complete. I'm moving to Chicago in less than two weeks and I haven't packed a single item.

I am writing this letter on behalf of the Executive Committee and members of the Murray State University Staff Congress. Murray State's Board of Regents, by their decision at their meeting on April 11th to raise tuition only 6 percent, has seriously crippled the efforts of faculty, staff and administrators to provide an accredited and quality education to the students who attend Murray State.

Thanks to the generosity of Murray State students, faculty and staff, Hart College has delivered more than $1,200 worth of healthy snacks to Needline for use with the Backpack Program. The Backpack Program provides easy-to-prepare or prepared food items to school children in grades K - 5 who would have little, if any, food available to them in their homes on the weekends.
