Another way Robertson maintains visibility on campus is by his nightly four-mile runs.
"I prefer running at night only because I like seeing folks as I run," Robertson said. "If I run at night on campus, it's another way of seeing folks, seeing what's going on and get a feel for what's happening on campus."
Robertson began running about three or four years ago and tries to run daily. Eventually he hopes to compete in a mini-marathon.
Robertson makes sure to spend time with family, which includes his wife Jeanie, who works on campus as coordinator of student teaching, and his daughter Emily, who is working on her certification in special education.
His son David is majoring in film and psychology as a sophomore at the University of Southern California.
Robertson stays busy volunteering with the Red Cross, Rotary Club and his church.
In addition, travel tops Robertson's list of favorite activities as he has traveled to China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea.
"They're places I never would have thought I would have gone, so that is something I will always be thankful to Murray State for," Robertson said.
Robertson hopes to continue working at a university and said through being at Murray State, he is accomplishing his ultimate goal.
"I'm doing exactly what I've always wanted to do," Robertson said. "This is the position I've always wanted."
