Racers defeat EIU, cut down the nets

After 40 minutes of being pushed and shoved by women bigger and taller than her, 5-foot-3-inch senior guard Alaina Lee finally got to be the biggest player on the court - all it took was a ladder. With scissors in hand, Lee took three of the biggest steps she had taken all season when she climbed the ladder at the end of the Ohio Valley Conference championship game Saturday to become the first Racer to claim a piece of the championship net she had been waiting to cut down all season.

Women's basketball team to face Duke

ESPN revealed Monday night that the Murray State women's basketball team will play Duke University Sunday in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The team was awarded a bid into the tournament after winning the Ohio Valley Conference March March 8. The women will travel to College Park, Md.

The dance didn't last long for the women's basketball team. Two weeks after winning a long-awaiting Ohio Valley Conference Championship, the No. 14-seeded Racers were defeated in the first round of the NCAA tournament by No. 3 Duke, 78-57, Sunday night. The Racers were forced to fight through a relentless Duke press defense throughout the duration of the game.
